If your WordPress-powered site happens to be inflicted with malware and you are feeling any of the above, I understand. The past week has been long for me too. Few things you can do to help relieve the pain.

1. Log a support request with your service provider to scan and clean all instances.
2. When that’s done, logon to phpMyAdmin to edit the admin password (look for wp_users). If you wish, you can use other methods to change the password.
3. Secure your wp files (see Hardening WordPress)
4. Resubmit your site to Google via Google Webmaster Tools

When I first started online journalling, it was my way of escaping the pen. I hate writing. Partly because I have really nasty handwriting. I hate the fact that I cannot read/understand my handwritten entries. But the funny thing is, I still have handwritten versions lying in the drawers.

But I digress. Online journalling is probably the best binary thing that I have ever ventured into.

In my search for the anniversary date of DL, came across this guy who thought that DL and ICQ should be among the pioneers of social networking sites. There. I don’t get it. Perhaps I am dense and not moving with the times. As far as terminology goes, Social networking really creeps under my skin. Why does everything on the web has to do with that? Since the much needed purchase¹ of the Xperia a month ago, customisation becomes an interesting pastime.

It is my virgin experience with a WinMo phone. I must have spent 70% of my internet bandwidth on XDA and have a serious love-hate relationship with the developers. On one hand, you want to try everything. On the other, you don’t really understand all the steps and are mildly paranoid about conflicts, if any.

Anyway. My X1 is almost fully dressed (or rather, I am getting tired). In alpha order.

John spoke about streamlined-friendship over the net. Does the same experience apply when offline relationships goes on the internet highway? When it happens, do people stay that way simply because “they can no longer make it” for the in-the-flesh events anymore?

I will pay for webspace, for sure. And for a reasonable additional amount, I will topup for the popular tools e.g. WordPress. Dislike the idea of paying 39 merchants to maintain one site.

For someone who has kept her email address and mobile phone number intact for the past 10 years, I think I will be lazy enough to pay whoever that will keep my pain of transfers to a minimum. They may not be that important in my daily life but I do hate changes when it comes to communication.

In good cheer, I am feeling it again. So inspired to not use the uninspiring templates; yet so lazy. Oh so lazy.

Reason why I am bringing this up – not random – for some reason, I surfed into his website. His sister had just passed away and the husband, a year ago. Even though I don’t know him personally, there is a gentle wave of sadness. Maybe it’s the age thing. As you get older, you get more sentimental.

It’s really not that bad, if you can bear with the inconvenience of broken windows and inaccessible grocers from time to time. When the police is cordoning off your area, just go watch a play or something. Plenty to do!

John is right. Back in 1997, the celebrity term ‘blogs’ did not exist. Web fanatics had personal websites with content of either daily muses (such as Pei and Jasmin) or simply design (the likes of Becca, Elisha, and Jennifer). Pretty much like now, except that no one expected to gain media-fame, or rather you can only be as famous as the cables can stretch on the seabed.

I guess it’s inevitable that we grow up, get married, move to a new country, have children and in short, move on. If we are still made to struggle and wrestle with cgi, perhaps the ahem celebrity bloggers will not be motivated to begin their online domination, let alone airbrush their banner images. Does this make me a conservative?
