First, you are surprised by the restriction. Then you become confused with the multiple failures to reach the admin login page. Your frustration grows as the step-by-step sanitisation guide is more difficult than keeping cool in summer. Soon, you relent and log a support request with your service provider. 48 hours later, you feel upset that the cleansing action has not lifted the block. To make things worst, you found out that the database table for user access has been wiped out.

This site may harm your computer. And it is all because of this little statement.

If your WordPress-powered site happens to be inflicted with malware and you are feeling any of the above, I understand. The past week has been long for me too. Few things you can do to help relieve the pain.

Log a support request with your service provider to scan and clean all instances.

When that’s done, logon to phpMyAdmin to edit the admin password (look for wp_users). If you wish, you can use other methods to change the password.

Secure your wp files (see Hardening WordPress)

Resubmit your site to Google via Google Webmaster Tools

Came across LiveJournal‘s birthday banner and realised that she turned 10 years old in November 2009. Fast rewind – LJ was launched a month before 2000 i.e. the demise of the computers and subsequently the end of the world. Heh. Since I was never an active user of LJ1, I immediately wondered about the online journal management that I did use – Diaryland. Guess what, it was introduced in 1999 as well! Unfortunately they have since deleted my account.

When I first started online journalling, it was my way of escaping the pen. I hate writing. Partly because I have really nasty handwriting. I hate the fact that I cannot read/understand my handwritten entries. But the funny thing is, I still have handwritten versions lying in the drawers.

But I digress. Online journalling is probably the best binary thing that I have ever ventured into.

In my search for the anniversary date of DL, came across this guy who thought that DL and ICQ should be among the pioneers of social networking sites. There. I don’t get it. Perhaps I am dense and not moving with the times. As far as terminology goes, Social networking really creeps under my skin. Why does everything on the web has to do with that? Still, I love the little timeline in the article. Not sure if he is the author of that chart, it brings a slight grin. Don’t know why.

º º º

All these talk about past, present, and the potential reminds me of the streets of yesterday streaming within the modern days.

Of course, simple is good. Clean is always welcomed. But the pages are getting too similar. It is like, someone planned out the designs for the next 5 years and everyone bought that manual – Large boxes, medium-sized ones, and a whole lot of photographs with sanserif graphics. One night, I made that observation and the person whom I told it to simply raised the eyebrow and probably went “So?” in his head. Hence it was rather heartening to see someone feeling the same. I don’t mean that websites must be splashy and browser-cuttingly chic. As DK has aptly pointed out, one whole site based on flash is just not as friendly1. I am sure some can do more than boxes and rows without being over zealous.

Now that I think about it, perhaps it’s because consumers like the predictable?

Social media marketing (or whatever the latest terminology is) is catchy. Now it just needs it own theme song.

I wonder if the venue/outfit sponsor can consider giving away stuff to supporters/onlookers too.

By the way, apparently “-athon” is a right-able suffix. The aforementioned event is not to be confused with the non-profit organization that holds regular events to raise funds or awareness.

It is my virgin experience with a WinMo phone. I must have spent 70% of my internet bandwidth on <a href="http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=436" target=""_new">XDA and have a serious love-hate relationship with the developers. Every individual has their own unique preference for favorite sites, utilities, media and friends. Flock’s philosophy is to deliver a more personal experience of the web, where its users are in control and more connected to what they value.

Only drawback of the site – does not tell you when you will find yourself sitting next to someone who, at 39,000ft, will decide that she absolutely has to make a phone call via her motorola razor.
On Mark’s article on 15 websites/services that he will pay for: Will you pay for the free online services that you have been <s>leeching</s> using and have since built up a high level of dependency on?

I will pay for webspace, for sure. And for a reasonable additional amount, I will topup for the popular tools e.g. WordPress. Dislike the idea of paying 39 merchants to maintain one site.

For someone who has kept her email address and mobile phone number intact for the past 10 years, I think I will be lazy enough to pay whoever that will keep my pain of transfers to a minimum. They may not be that important in my daily life but I do hate changes when it comes to communication.

He took one a day from January 11, 2000 to July 31, 2006. He has such sad eyes. Or he is staring too hard into the lens. Listening to the music, I am kinda afraid that the ending may be nasty. Not horror film nasty. But sad nasty. Do not worry. The video may have ended in 2006, he is alive and still doing the same thing everyday. I think the concept is not his own. Does anyone know which movie is it adapted from?

And yes, you’re right. I am entertained.

I cannot even keep track of yesterday. And I love The Simpsons.

Happy holidays everyone. I had a great evening – cooking and force-feeding a family who hates non-Chinese food.

Yes, my apartment was broken into. Yes, my neighborhood grocer and postal office were burglared. Yes, police sirens was a norm at night. Yes, I have friends who get robbed and beaten up. Yes, notices for witnesses to murders on the buses were common like concerts posters. Yes, the insurance premium is really high. Hey, who says we live in a perfect world? I recall avoiding the mashed snow and chewed gum more than the dark alleys of the evil market square. Of course, this is coming from someone who did not have a habit of locking her door.

It’s really not that bad, if you can bear with the inconvenience of broken windows and inaccessible grocers from time to time. When the police is cordoning off your area, just go watch a play or something. Plenty to do!

John is right. Back in 1997, the celebrity term ‘blogs’ did not exist. Web fanatics had personal websites with content of either daily muses (such as Pei and Jasmin) or simply design (the likes of Becca, Elisha, and Jennifer).
I guess it’s inevitable that we grow up, get married, move to a new country, have children and in short, move on.
The fact that I made up my mind in 1/4 of the time I would normally take to decide on any purchases above $50 hinted that I would not take it lying down.

A colleague asked, “Do you blog?” I am unsure. Does she want to know if I blog like what the newspapers have portrayed? Or like what I remember it to be?

As I unpacked a time capsule (shipped from Nottingham 3 years ago), the cards and letters from people I have gotten to know through the web are really amazing. Not discounting what is going on now (given the little information I have), as a true Cancerian, I believe we had it better.

Do you remember how it used to be?

Not like anyone even visit this site. However in case you are, could you tell me which other gallery script is fabulous? Talk a look at still and tell me you can recommend something better.

Someone on TV decides to talk about blogging. Some girl agrees to talk about her site (read: boost traffic). Some self-proclaimed moralist decides that anyone else who does not go into length about philosophy, life, or politics is inherently not worth reading or following. Well to his defence, he didn’t exactly say he is a moralist.

You know what? I enjoy talking about mundane nothingness and life-outside-US-elections. I know I never will have an opinion worthy enough of a2000-word essay published on the internet, so all I am going to say is – they are still talking about blogging?

Working and relying on computer software only mean one thing – virus checks and updates. Ok that’s two. And running updates mean one more thing – inserting cd1 and cd2 ten times over. My fingers ached after the third time, wonder how is the rom doing.

And so PC Advisor is going under. I distinctly remember talking about the crowdiness of the IT section at the newspaper stand. Personally, it’s not that there aren’t enough people reading the magazines, there aren’t enough gadgets/ inventions/ interviews/ promotions to share among the printed matter.

Every now and then, someone will stand up and throw meringue pies at blogging engines.
